The SIPROTEC Compact 7RW80 Voltage & Frequency Protection is a numerical, multifunction relay for connection to voltage transformers. It can be used in distribution systems, on transformers, and for electrical machines.
If the SIPROTEC Compact 7RW80 detects any deviation from the permitted voltage, frequency or over-excitation values, it will respond according to the values set. The relay can also be applied for the purposes of system decoupling and for load shedding if ever there is a risk of a system collapse as a result of inadmissibly large frequency drops. An integrated load restoration function allows the re-establishment of the power system after recovery of the system frequency.
The 7RW80 features flexible protection functions. 20 additional protection functions can be created by the user. For example, a rate-of-frequency change or a rate of- voltage change function can be created. The relay provides circuit-breaker control, additional primary switching devices (grounding switches, transfer switches, and isolating switches) can also be controlled from the relay.Automation or PLC logic functionality is also implemented in the relay. The integrated programmable logic (CFC) allows the user to add own functions, e.g. for the automation of switchgear (including interlocking, transfer and load shedding schemes). The user is also allowed to generate user-defined messages.
The communication module is independent of the protection. It can easily be exchanged or upgraded to future communication protocols.Highlights-Conformal coating available (NEW)-Pluggable current and voltage terminals-Binary input thresholds settable using DIGSI (3 stages)-9 programmable function keys-6-line display-Buffer battery exchangeable from the front-USB front port-2 additional communication ports-Integrated switch for low-cost and redundant optical Ethernet rings-Ethernet redundancy protocols RSTP, PRP and HSR for highest availability-Relay-to-relay communication through Ethernet with IEC 61850 GOOSE-Millisecond-accurate time synchronization through Ethernet with SNTP.

The SIPROTEC 7UT63 Protection Relay and 7UT635 differential protection relays are used for fast and selective fault clearing of short-circuits in transformers of all voltage levels and also in rotating electric machines like motors and generators, for short lines and busbars. The protection relay can be parameterized for use with three-phase and single-phase transformers. The specific c application can be chosen by parameterization. In this way, an optimal adaptation of the relay to the protected object can be achieved. In addition to the differential function, a backup overcurrent protection for 1 winding/star point is integrated into the relay. Optionally, a low or high-impedance restricted ground-fault protection, a negative-sequence protection, and a breaker failure protection can be used.
7UT633 features 4 voltage inputs. With this option an overvoltage and under voltage protection is available as well as frequency protection, reverse / forward power protection, fuse failure monitor and overexcitation protection. With external temperature monitoring boxes (thermo-boxes) temperatures can be measured and monitored in the relay. Therefore, complete thermal monitoring of a transformer is possible, e.g. hot-spot calculation of the oil temperature.7UT63x features full coverage of applications without external relays by the option of multiple protection functions e.g. overcurrent protection is available for each winding or measurement location of a transformer.
Other functions are available twice: ground-fault differential protection, breaker failure protection, and overload protection. Furthermore, up to 12 user-define (flexible) protection functions may be activated by the customer with the choice of measured voltages, currents, power and frequency as input variables. The relays provide easy-to-use local control and automation functions. The integrated programmable logic (CFC) allows the user implements their own functions, e.g. for the automation of switchgear (interlocking). User-defi ned messages can be generated as well. The fl exible communication interfaces are open for modem communication architectures with control system.

Busbar protection devices SIPROTEC 7SS85 are part of the modular SIPROTEC 5 series and their main function bases on the principle of differential protection.Additional protection and control functions extend the scope of application to a comprehensive station protection. The flexibility of the functions and the modular hardware structure allow an optimum adaptation of the 7SS85 to the most various system configurations and functional requirements.FunctionalityThe centralized busbar protection SIPROTEC 7SS85 encompasses the following maximum quantity structure:-20 3-phase measuring points (current transformer)-4 3phase measuring points (voltage transformer)-26 bays (feeders, couplers, bus-section disconnections)-4 bus zones (busbar sections with measuring function)-4 couplers (with 1 or 2 current transformers)-2 auxiliary busbars (busbar sections without measuring function)-Phase-selective measurement and Display-Selective tripping of faulty busbar sections.-Optional additional decentralized binary in- and outputs via protection interface (PI) or IEC 61850 (GOOSE) provide new concepts for busbar protection
Characteristics of the SIPROTEC 7SS85
-
Phase-selective measurement and display
-
Selective tripping of faulty bus zones
-
Disconnector-independent check zone as additional tripping criterion
-
Shortest tripping times (<7 ms) to ensure network stability and minimize damage to the system
-
Highest stability in case of external faults, even in case of transformer saturation, through stabilization with flowing currents
-
Operate curve with freely adjustable characteristic curve sections
-
Additional operate curve with increased sensitivity for low current faults, for example in resistance-grounded power systems
-
Fast recognition of internal and external faults re-quires only 2 ms of saturation-free time of the current transformer
-
Using closed iron core or linearized current transformers in a plant is possible
-
Adaptation of different current transformer ratios per parameterization
-
Three interacting methods of measurement allow minimum tripping times after busbar faults and ensure maximum stability in case of large short-circuit currents
-
The integrated circuit-breaker failure protection recognizes circuit-breaker faults in the event of a busbar short circuit and provides a trip signal for the circuit breaker at the line end. The adjacent busbar trips if a coupling circuit breaker fails
-
There is extensive monitoring of current transformer circuits, measured value acquisition and processing, and trip circuits. This prevents the protection from functioning too tightly or too loosely, which reduces the effort for routine checks
-
Various control possibilities, such as bay out of order, acquisition blocking from disconnectors and circuit breakers, blocking of protection zones or circuit-breaker failure protection, make the adaptation to operationally caused special states of your system easier
-
Optional 1/3-pole or 3-pole circuit-breaker failure protection using the integrated disconnector image to trip all circuit breakers of the busbar section affected
-
Optional end-fault protection for the protection of the section between circuit breaker and current transformer for feeders and bus couplers
-
Direct tripping of protection zones through external signals
